Steve, your conversation with those facebook troglodytes is illustrative of what we all face. There is no convincing or educating a large portion of folks out there. They are cognitively incapable of giving up their worldview, no matter how corrosive it may be. We are probably better served by trying to reach a small cadre of people who 1) can accept the reality and implications of what's happening (overshoot), and 2) have the moral fiber to try to prepare themselves psychologically and otherwise. We can't 'solve' a predicament, but we have the ethical responsibility to try to set the stage, giving those who will come after (if any!) the best chance to create a new human paradigm. The sad thing is that knuckle-draggers like those facebook folks will be the ones who will rob your garden when food gets scarce.
