Oh, Steve. So well presented. Some time I will give a lengthy comment of my observations as I have traveled the same highways for many years (85 to be exact), course I was not always observing the landscape nor was I the driver. Good job, rational.

Both of you are conveniently forgetting, or have never heard of, the inconvenient Bill Gaede Hypothesis of the Sixth Mass Extinction, a simple prediction that postulates that humans will EAT every single one of our fellow Earthlings during the upcoming global economic crash, and there will be nothing left standing bigger than a mouse or a goldfish, so there will be no "ecological recovery" from humans for several million years, at least. My money is on octopi. It is a great century to be an octopus.
